Welcome to Sponsio. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Sponsio ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our mobile application.
Sponsio is developed by Andrew Goble and is designed to help friends track friendly bets and challenges. The App does not involve real money gambling or payment processing.
Information We Collect
Sponsio is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App collects minimal information necessary for functionality:
iCloud Account Information: We use Apple's iCloud authentication to identify you. This provides automatic sign-in without requiring passwords.
Bet Data: Information about bets you create or participate in, including bet details, stakes, participants, and outcomes.
Check-in Photos: When you submit proof of completing a challenge, the App accesses your camera or photo library to capture or select a photo.
Device Information: Basic device information required for app functionality and iCloud sync.
How We Use Your Information
The information collected is used solely for:
Enabling core app functionality (creating, tracking, and managing bets)
Syncing your data across your personal devices via iCloud
Providing check-in proof functionality through photos
Maintaining the integrity of bet records and outcomes
Data Storage
All your data is stored in your own private iCloud account using Apple CloudKit:
Data is stored in CloudKit's private database, accessible only to you
Photos are stored as CloudKit assets in your iCloud storage
We do not have access to your data - it remains in your personal iCloud account
Your data is protected by Apple's security measures and your iCloud credentials
If you delete the App or your iCloud data, all associated information is removed
Analytics
Sponsio uses Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service, to understand how the App is used and to improve the experience. Mixpanel receives:
A hashed, anonymized user identifier (derived from your iCloud record ID using SHA-256 — your actual iCloud ID is never sent)
Your chosen display name (the name you set in the App)
App usage events (e.g., creating a bet, completing a check-in) with no personally identifiable content
Basic device information (device type, OS version)
Mixpanel data is used solely for app improvement and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. You can learn more about Mixpanel's privacy practices at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Data Sharing
Sponsio does not share your personal information with third parties except as described in the Analytics section above. Specifically:
We do not sell or rent your information to anyone
We do not use advertising SDKs or share data with ad networks
We do not share data with marketing companies or data brokers
Bet information is only shared with the participants you explicitly invite to a bet
Your bet data remains in your private iCloud account and is not transmitted to our servers
Camera and Photo Access
The App requests access to your camera and photo library only for check-in proof functionality:
Camera access is used to take photos as proof of completing challenges
Photo library access allows you to select existing photos as check-in proof
Photos are stored as CloudKit assets in your personal iCloud storage
Photos are shared only with the specific bet participants you've invited
You can deny camera/photo access, but check-in proof features will not be available
No Real Money Gambling
Important clarification about stakes and payments:
Sponsio is designed for tracking friendly bets and challenges between friends
The App does NOT process any real money transactions
Stakes are tracked as a ledger only - settlement happens outside the App
Payment methods (Venmo, cash, etc.) are handled directly between participants
We do not collect or store any payment information
Children's Privacy
Sponsio is rated 17+ and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 17. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at andrew@andrewgoble.com.
Your Rights and Choices
You have full control over your data:
Access: Your data is stored in your iCloud account and is accessible through the App
Deletion: Delete the App or remove data from your iCloud account at any time
Export: Your data is stored in standard CloudKit formats in your iCloud account
Opt-out: Disable iCloud sync in your device settings to stop data syncing
Security
Your data security is maintained through:
Apple's CloudKit security infrastructure and encryption
iCloud authentication protecting access to your data
Private database storage ensuring only you can access your information
Analytics data is transmitted only to Mixpanel for app improvement purposes
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
Update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
Notify you of significant changes through the App or via email
Post the updated policy at the same URL
Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
International Users
Sponsio uses iCloud, which stores data according to Apple's data residency policies. Your data may be stored and processed in any country where Apple maintains iCloud data centers.
